About the Program
Mission Viejo football is one of California's premier high school programs and the flagship sport for the Diablos. Built into a national power under longtime Hall of Fame coach Bob Johnson, the program has earned multiple CIF Southern Section titles and more than two dozen league championships, and won CIF State Bowl championships in 2015 and 2023 (a 27-14 win over De La Salle in the CIF State 1-AA final). The Diablos routinely schedule and beat elite national competition.
Recent Season
2025 (Fall 25-26): 9-2 overall, 3-0 in league (1st place). Season ended with a 0-20 loss to Mater Dei in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs (Nov 14, 2025).
Notable Achievements
2 CIF State championships (2015, 2023); multiple CIF Southern Section titles; 25+ league championships; perennial CIF-SS Division 1 playoff participant; numerous D-I and NFL alumni.
